Starting from January 19, 2019, individuals who have not bought their Disney Vacation Club membership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. will face certain restrictions. They will not be permitted to use Vacation Points to book at all or some non-Home Resorts. Please be aware that exchanges and destinations external to the club aren't covered by the ownership interest and can be altered or cancelled at any time without prior notice.

Membership Extras include features like exchange opportunities in the Disney Collection, the entire Concierge Collection, select discounts, and exclusive events, which are all supplementary benefits. Please note, these perks may change or be withdrawn without notice, could involve additional fees, and can't be used in conjunction with other special offers or promotions. Exchange options in the Disney Collection and all Concierge Collection options will not be accessible for those who haven't purchased an ownership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. after March 21, 2011. As of April 4, 2016, members not having bought a direct ownership interest from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. will not be eligible for Membership Extras. Additionally, as of June 3, 2021, to receive a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, members need to amass a minimum of 150 Vacation Points bought directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.
