San Antonio, Texas is a fabulous place to spend a vacation if you love natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and/or history. What better place to stay than your own private vacation condo at Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch? A San Antonio timeshare opens the door to all the sites and activities in the area while giving you all the comforts of home and much more.
You may think you will have to squeeze your family into a small hotel room but think again. The choice of rooms is extensive, whether a classic studio apartment or a one, two, or three-bedroom suite. You will have a separate living and dining area, and everyone will have his or her private space.
Your Hyatt timeshare is located in the beautiful Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch complex which offers all the first-class amenities you would expect for its timeshare owners. The 39 acres of the resort have hiking and biking trails and wilderness to explore. The local area offers many interesting historical sites and outdoor activities, but even if you want to stay in the resort, there is plenty to do.
You can take advantage of the Activity Camp for children ages three to 12 years, or relax in the media center with widescreen TV, computers, and printers. The 800-foot river pool is great fun, and there are indoor and outdoor family pools with water slides.
You won’t miss your daily round of golf at the Award-winning 27-hole Hill Country Championship golf course, just across the street from the resort, and don’t forget the state-of-the-art health and fitness club and spa.
Whether you are arriving with your whole family or looking for a peaceful couple’s weekend, you can choose the type of accommodation you want. The one, two, and three-bedroom suites have whirlpool baths, a washer and dryer, and a DVD player in the living room with a plasma screen TV.
You will have a well-appointed kitchen to cook some meals at home to save on food costs or enjoy special nights out at your choice of onsite restaurants, including a poolside restaurant. The resort offers DVD rentals and free Wi-Fi throughout the resort.
The Alamo and the historic missions are the most famous attractions in the city, but there is much more. Take a stroll or a cruise along the beautiful River Walk. The San Antonio River is lined with stone walkways and a multitude of cafes and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Many large trees offer shade for people and a landing place for myriad birds.
You can also enjoy a dinner cruise on a barge that slowly moves along the river that provides a delightful conclusion to a day of walking and sightseeing.
The Alamo has a rather small facade that accompanies its huge significance in American History. Built as part of the Franciscan mission in 1744, it was defended to the death by Davy Crockett and James Bowie when they fought 3,000 soldiers of the Mexican army. Today, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and “Remember the Alamo” is a rallying cry just as popular today as it was almost two centuries ago.
The Alamo is just one of the five missions on this historical trail. You can visit all five missions in one day and drive to each, but if it’s cool enough, many visitors like the bike the scenic trail which runs along the river. The main missions you shouldn’t miss are the Alamo, Mission Concepcion, and Mission San Jose. If you have the time and energy, you can also visit Mission San Juan and Mission Espada.
The San Antonio Natural Bridge Caverns were created with dripping limestone over millions of years. Artful lighting inside the huge caves makes visiting them an other-worldly experience. The caves were hidden from humans until four students discovered them in 1960. A natural bridge is 60 feet long and the constant temperature inside the cavern is 70 degrees F. If you are there in the summer, it’s a great place to cool off.
Along with exploring the caves, there are many other activities such as finding your way through a 5,000 sq ft outdoor maze, or mining for gems and fossils. There are several boutique sweet shops, gift and jewelry shops, and a traditional trading post.
While visiting the historical sites is important, the fun activities for children of all ages are plentiful. The award-winning SeaWorld San Antonio is a two-minute drive from Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch and a place where visitors can actually interact with the dolphins and see vast areas under the sea. There are live shows and one of the best roller coasters in the state. The first launched flume coaster with the world’s steepest flume drop is fantastic and one ride definitely won’t be enough.
This is a theme park and a water park designed just for kids. It has thrill rides for older kids and adults as well as those designed for younger ones.
The park is filled with coasters and water slides, plus live entertainment and special events to keep you engaged at any time of year. Restaurants featuring a variety of casual dining options will keep you energized, and adults can enjoy a cold one at Cocktails on The Corner or Dom Julio's Beach Bar.
Bandera is just one hour from San Antonio and is considered by many as the Cowboy Capital of the World. The popular impression of the life of the cowboys in the Old West comes alive in Bandera with dude ranches, rodeos, grub wagons, and plenty of horses and horseback riding all surrounded by the best country music. If cowboys aren’t your thing, no problem, there are also live shows, golf courses, guest ranches, and much more.
