Posted on November 08, 2022

Once a mining town, Park City has undergone a stunning transformation to become one of the most highly rated resort destinations in North America. Your Park City vacation may center around the two incredible ski resorts in the winter or on spectacular mountain biking and hiking in the summer. Either way, a Park City timeshare offers you the perfect home-away-from-home accommodations.

You'll have no trouble getting to Park City as it's a mere one-hour drive from the Salt Lake City airport. While there, you'll be able to enjoy exclusive shopping and dining as well as a range of tourist attractions.

Major Attractions in Park City

People come to Park City for many reasons. One of the foremost of these is the skiing. The main ski areas are the Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort.

A part of the IKON pass program, Deer Valley Resort encompasses four mountains and a multitude of ski runs that are suitable for skiers of all abilities. While most of the terrain is appropriate for beginners and intermediates, several advanced runs, particularly on Lady Morgan Mountain, will entice even the most seasoned skier. In addition to excellent skiing, Deer Valley promises wonderful day lodges, great options for restaurants and thoughtful extras like free ski storage.

Deer Valley Park City

Park City Mountain Resort involves an immense ski hill that boasts a surprising number of ruins. Spread over almost 20 mountain peaks, this resort has more than 330 ski runs, 38 lifts and has a maximum elevation of 10,026 feet.

You'll find plenty of runs for novices and intermediate skiers here with several black diamonds thrown in for good measure. Park City Mountain Resort recently acquired Canyons Ski Resort, giving the resort a pair of main base areas. Canyons is just outside of town and has the most parking. Park City Mountain Resort access in town is better suited to those staying in accommodations that are nearby because of the limited parking.

Part of the Epic Pass program, Park City Mountain Resort is a summertime destination too. Take a gondola ride to appreciate the breathtaking view or catch a heart-pounding ride on the mountain coaster. This also is the spot for mountain biking, hiking and taking in a concert.

Shopping, Galleries and More

Skiing and mountain biking are not the only attractions on your Park City vacation. This also is a great destination for shopping. Main Street is one of the most popular places to shop 'til you drop in Park City. It boasts everything from souvenir shops to high-end boutiques. Whether you’re picking up a snow globe or some fine jewelry, be sure to also check out one of the outstanding restaurants.

Additionally, Main Street is the place to be to enjoy the work of local artists. The galleries also feature pieces from internationally recognized creatives. From July through December, you can take part in the Last Friday Gallery stroll between six and nine in the evening.

Summer Sundays are the time to enjoy the Park Silly Sunday Market on Main Street. A combination of a street festival and a farmers market, this is an unusual event that you won't want to miss. Complete with musicians, buskers, farmers, merchants, activities for the kids and more, each Sunday is a major happening.

Learn About Park City's History

Your Park City vacation could not be considered complete with a stop at the Park City Museum and Territorial Jail. You'll find it in the community's original City Hall, which was established in 1884. The museum is surprisingly large, occupying several floors. Hands-on displays make it entertaining for the whole family. For instance, you can trigger an explosion or ride in an antique elevator in the mining exhibit. You can even visit the original territorial jail and a recreated grocery store.

Another facet of Park City's past can be explored at Utah Olympic Park. Back in 2002, the Winter Olympic Games were held here as part of the Salt Lake City games. Situated four miles north of the city center, the park is open to the public for all sorts of activities. Elite athletes train here too.

Perhaps one of the most popular activities at Utah Olympic Park is the Comet Bobsled Ride. A professional driver takes three people down the 1,335-meter course at a time. Along the way, you'll experience a drop of more than 100 feet and 15 hair-raising turns.

This also is the site of the Alf Engen Ski Museum, a free attraction that's fascinating to skiers and non-skiers alike.

Heading Out of Town

During your Park City vacation, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate some jaw-dropping scenery. Explore the roads around the city to get an even better perspective on the many gorgeous vistas found in the area.

One of the most popular drives is the Guardsman Pass Scenic Byway. The tour starts 14 miles outside of Park City, winding its way to the summit of Big Cottonwood Canyon. You'll have many opportunities to see wildlife, and summer is the best time to enjoy meadows filled with wildflowers.

An alternative drive is the Provo Canyon Scenic Byway, which begins about 20 minutes from the center of Park City. Along the way, you'll be able to marvel at Bridal Veil Falls, which plummets 607 feet. High winds are common on Deer Creek Reservoir, giving you the chance to watch kiteboarders performing death-defying aerial tricks.
