Set in Cancun’s famous hotel zone, the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort features a scenic location on a spectacular beach and an impressive pool complex.
The suites are bright, spacious and well-appointed while two restaurants and bars provide a welcome variety of dining experiences. Even the kids love these Westin timeshares thanks to a club that hosts daily activities.
A hit with active guests and those who just want to lie back and relax, these Cancun timeshares are a winning choice in every season.
This upscale property boasts a perfect location on a white-sand beach. It's in the heart of Cancun's hotel zone, which means that major attractions and activities are within easy distance.
The rooms are bright and chic, boasting full kitchens and furnished balconies with ocean views. Of particular note is the resort's pool complex. With a slide, kiddy pool, swim-up bar and more, this is a favorite feature on the property for most guests.
Being able to play mini-golf and tennis on-site is a big plus. A spa is present to cater to guests who need to relax while a fitness center meets the needs of guests who want to work up a sweat. Thanks to two restaurants, two bars, a market and outdoor barbecue grills, there are always numerous options for dining and drinking.
These Westin timeshares stand out from many of the other properties in the area because this is not an all-inclusive resort. In fact, many of the guests who stay here choose the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort precisely for this reason.
This property is ideal for couples and families who prefer the features of an all-inclusive stay but without the need to pre-pay for items you don’t want. You’ll also have the option of preparing healthy meals in the unit’s kitchen instead of standing in lines at buffets.
Also working in this resort's favor is the fact that it isn't as rambunctious as many of the all-inclusive properties in the hotel zone. However, the pool can get really busy in the afternoons, especially during the high season, so it may make sense to head there early to make sure you get your preferred lounging spot.
If you have stayed at Westin timeshare properties before, then you probably have a fairly good sense of what these Cancun timeshares will be like. The décor is polished and modern with features such as high-end wicker furniture, flagstone walls, accents fashioned from river rock and plenty of attractive ceramic tiles.
The lobby is bright and airy with high ceilings and fountains. The main gardens are just beyond, complete with wood beams and pillars that include wooden slats above walkways to protect guests from the sometimes relentless Cancun sun. Be sure to take a moment to view the ocean from the lobby when you arrive.
With nearly 600 suites, this is a large, sprawling property, so it's wise to wear comfortable shoes. Ten minutes may be needed to get from one end of the resort to the other. The central attraction on the grounds is the freeform infinity pool, which is surrounded by whirlpools, a kids' pool, a waterslide and some gorgeous, lush tropical landscaping. A few local touches, like the palapas and the wood-slat coverings over select lounges, raise this resort above the typical hotel.
Most people choose this resort because its suites are complete with full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers. These are relative rarities in the hotel zone, so don't expect to find them in every resort.
Once again, if you have stayed at Westin properties before, you can probably guess that the rooms are decorated in a tasteful and understated manner that is undeniably modern. The white tile floors and white bedding are cool and refreshing after the blazing sun. These are set off by dark wood built-ins that are polished and pleasing to the eyes. Every timeshare suite on the property has a furnished balcony that provides outstanding lagoon and ocean views.
Guests may opt for a Studio Villa that is approximately 400 square feet, making it comparable in size to a standard hotel room. Upgrading to a one-bedroom villa is a significant step up as these measure 740 square feet and easily sleep families of four. Two-bedroom villas are even larger at 1,140 square feet. As they sleep up to eight adults, these are a great choice for larger groups.
One-bedroom and two-bedroom timeshare villas feature master bedrooms with king-sized beds and dual vanities in the bathroom. The living area has a sofa bed, and the blackout-lined draperies are a thoughtful feature.
The kitchens have everything you might expect, including full-size electric ranges, dishwashers and coffeemakers. Six-person dining tables are found in each one- and two-bedroom villa. Rooms also are equipped with safes, 37-inch flat screen televisions and streaming music. Guests who are SPG members receive free Wi-Fi.
The bathrooms are simple but attractive with blue clay tile on the walls, cream ceramic tile floors and marble countertops. Showers are accessed by sliding doors, and the whirlpool tubs are a luxurious touch. Guests of varying sizes may appreciate the height-adjustable shower heads.
One of the main reasons to stay at the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort is the amazing pool complex. In all, there are two pools that face the ocean. The main one is the freeform infinity pool that stretches for the entire length of the property. It includes a waterslide as well as a kiddy pool and a swim-up bar. The other ocean-facing pool is quieter and oriented toward adults.
A pedestrian bridge bisects the freeform pool, and the waterslide is found in the portion of the pool that's farther removed from the ocean. If you want to stay cool, choose one of the in-pool loungers.
Several events are held at the main pool, including scuba lessons and aqua aerobics in addition to swimming classes for little ones. All of the pools are heated, and there are many cabanas and lounge chairs. Of course, these can go quickly, so if you have a favorite spot, be prepared to grab it early.
The whirlpools are oversized as they can easily accommodate 15 adults.
Children between the ages of four and 12 will probably love the kids' club with its many hosted activities. From feeding an iguana to learning to hula, there's a little something for everyone at the club. A few parties are held in the evening at the kids' club to give parents a night off. Other amenities that kids enjoy at this property are the tennis courts and the mini-golf course.
If you like to exercise while on vacation, you'll be drawn to the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio. Complete with the latest equipment, the studio even boasts a sauna and steam room. Ultimate relaxation is waiting at the Heavenly Spa. A wide assortment of individual and couples' treatments are available.
Interestingly, it is even possible to visit a small Mayan ruin next to the resort. Marketed as Cancun's highest peak, the Temple of the Scorpion can be visited during the day.
The on-site restaurants are Oceano, a Mexican and international eatery, and Viento, which features a blend of American and Mexican cuisine. At the Duna Sports Bar, patrons are treated to typical bar food while the Viento Pool Bar serves more upscale fare.
Guests wishing to prepare meals in their villas may visit the Tierra Market for purchasing deli items, wine, pasta, meat, vegetables, fruit and more.
Staying at these Cancun timeshares can be a welcome respite during your trip, but there is plenty to be discovered in the area. The beaches here are gorgeous. The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort is located on one of them, but you also may want to visit famous beaches such as Linda, de las Perlas, Chac-mool, Caracol, Tortugas and Juventud.
Golfers looking for a course close to the resort may prefer the Pok-ta-Pok public golf course, protected from the coast but scenic as it borders the inner bay area.
Chichen Itza is Cancun's other premier attraction. These remarkably well-preserved Mayan ruins are extremely popular with visitors. Located three hours to the west of the coastline, these ruins were settled more than 1,000 years ago and are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where you'll discover El Castillo, one of the most famous sites in the entire country.
If you are fascinated by ancient culture and want to learn more, make certain that the Maya Museum is on your itinerary. It is a superb institution that is filled with illuminating exhibits that helpfully explain the most ancient origins of the Mayan culture. Hundreds of artifacts are spread across three enormous halls, some of which are skeletal remains from 14,000 years ago that were found in Tulum.
Enjoy a unique experience with a scuba dive to the Cancun Underwater Museum. Established in 2009, this attraction on the seabed features underwater art galleries that will form the basis for new reefs.
Start planning your Cancun adventure today, using these Westin timeshares as your luxurious home base. Spacious, oceanfront accommodations await you on your sunny Mexican vacation.
