With great access to the renowned Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg is the four-season tourism king of eastern Tennessee. Some of the best timeshare resorts in the eastern U.S. are located within the Gatlinburg region, with iconic, nature-based activities ready to be explored.

Yes, Gatlinburg is more than a good timeshare destination. It’s a can’t miss vacation experience.

Many major hospitality brands have a timeshare resort in the region, which stretches from Gatlinburg north through Pigeon Forge to Sevierville. Capital Vacations, Bluegreen, Westgate, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Exploria, Diamond, and Wyndham all have timeshare resorts in the region. And some who don’t, such as Marriott and Hilton, have hotels in the area which you can use your points to access.

So, where can you go for all the fun?

The Smokies

These majestic mountains look down on the Gatlinburg region beckoning to be explored. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most popular national park in America, with over 12 million visitors last year even in the middle of the pandemic.

Technically traversing eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina, residents of the Volunteer State will tell you their side of the park is the best. But don’t let the border limit you from all the hiking, biking, white water rafting, nature walking and scenic driving available over the 522,000 acres of parkland.

Watch for black bears among the wildlife you may see along with the flora and fauna, amazing scenery and restored historic structures from the early 19th Century.

Amusement Parks and Attractions

This region is the home of Dolly Parton, and no visit to Gatlinburg is complete without visiting Dollywood. As you would expect from one of the most iconic singers in the world, the live entertainment shows are wonderful, but there is much more to the park than the shows.

Depending on the time of year, the family can enjoy a choice of nine roller coasters, Splash Country outdoor water park and multiple shopping and dining locations in addition to over a dozen live shows. Rides, bumper cars and even the Dollywood Express steam train ride provide terrific fun for the entire family.

Anakeesta park

Anakeesta is a unique mountaintop park with the Treetop Walk including over a dozen bridges hanging up to 60ft in the air. Ziplines, the Rail Runner mountain coaster and numerous shopping and dining outlets make for a terrific day.

More fun spots include the aptly named FunStop Family Action Park with its slingshot, the Island in Pigeon Forge where you can see everything from the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, and the Rowdy Bear Ridge Adventure Park with its 500 ft tubing hill. And don’t forget the Gatlinburg Space Needle with its 360-degree view from over 400ft above Gatlinburg.

There are so many other fun centers, game parks, go-kart tracks and quirky museums that you’ll be busy for days.

Ober Gatlinburg

While other areas of the country get more notoriety for their skiing and winter sports facilities, Gatlinburg has one of the top spots in the mid-Atlantic region. Ober Gatlinburg provides the best winter sports facility in Tennessee, with downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing and ice skating sure to keep everyone entertained.

The park stays open all year-round, since it transitions into a scenic attraction during the warmer months with its Aerial Tramway providing spectacular views and Ski Mountain Coaster and Alpine Slide providing the thrills. Bumper cars, rock walls, water rafting and more give everyone the fun they need on vacation.
