Things to Do Around San Francisco

While free parking is not available onsite at WorldMark San Francisco, valet parking is available if you choose to bring or rent a car during your stay. However, the extensive public transit network can get you to most of the best places to visit, and the hotel is only a couple of blocks from the Powell Street Cable Car and the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) network.

If you are planning to visit Chinatown, Nob Hill, and Union Square, they are all within a mile or less. San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest outside of Asia, and the best time to visit is during the Chinese Lunar New Year when the celebrations are taking place.

These WorldMark timeshares are also within walking distance of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Embarcadero Center if you are looking for additional cultural events nearby. The entire downtown area is full of shopping, dining, and a rich nightlife so you are sure to have a good time day and night.

Famous Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco

Fisherman’s' Wharf is along the scenic Powell Cable Car route from the hotel and is one of the best places to visit to get a sampling of everything San Francisco has to offer. It is filled with shops, dining, and attractions such as Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and Ghirardelli Square.

Another part of Fisherman’s' Wharf is the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park where you'll find restored 18th and 19th-century sailing ships, the WWII submarine USS Pampanito, and the Maritime Museum.

Pier 39 extends out the other side of the Wharf and hosts over 50 restaurants and stores along its docks. If you go to the end of Pier 39, you can look out for fantastic views of the Bay or look back at the city for an unbeatable look at its hills and skyline. During whale-watching season from December through May, you can often find a whale-watching charter off Pier 39 as well.

Alcatraz Island, the infamous prison which held criminals such as Al Capone, is also worth a visit, not just for the historical information and tours of the prison, but also nowadays as a place to see countless nesting seabirds. At the very edge of the Golden Gate Strait, you will come upon Point Bonita Lighthouse.

Get to Golden Gate

WorldMark San Francisco is also within easy public transit of major attractions such as Golden Gate Park with its views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The park itself offers several miles of walking and bicycling trails, picnic areas, native plants, and some top indoor attractions. Despite receiving fewer annual visitors, it is even bigger than New York's Central Park and is a great place to take the family.

Golden Gate Park has several attractions sure to delight all ages, including the oldest Japanese tea garden in the United States. Another famous place here is the California Academy of Sciences, with its 2.5-acre living green roof, beneath which you'll find the massive Steinhart Aquarium and four-story tall Osher Rainforest. Nor can the T-Rex and blue whale skeletons be missed at Kimball Natural History Museum.

The Golden Gate Bridge itself can be seen during a walking tour and from several vistas around the city. Perhaps one of the best postcard-worthy viewing sites, however, is the Golden Gate Vista Point on one of the hills above San Francisco. Not only will you have a stunning look at the Golden Gate Bridge, but you can also look out across the strait which it was named after, and which connects the Bay to the Pacific Ocean.

Outdoor Recreation Spots

Across the Golden Gate Bridge, you will find the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a 600-acre park with some of the best hiking, beaches, and recreation areas outside of the downtown area. It is also home to Fort Baker, an early 20th-century American fort.

If you enjoy hiking, then Muir Woods just north of San Francisco will be essential for the sight of California's famous Redwood trees.

Best Times to Visit a San Francisco Timeshare

San Francisco is known for its near-perfect weather year-round, with minimal rainfall, bright sunshine, and consistently pleasant weather with few exceptionally hot or cold days.

If you are planning on spending some time outdoors while staying at the WorldMark San Francisco, you can expect slightly cooler weather with more precipitation in the winter, and sunnier, drier days in the summer, so you may want to consider that when planning your trip.

However, if you are looking to beat the crowds and don't mind the cooler weather, November and December are the two least busy months for tourism in San Francisco. Also, if you are hoping to see some whales on your trip, December through May is the best time to travel. Those same months, especially January through May, are the shoulder season in San Francisco. The fall months are also slower after the summer peak ebbs.

The busiest time to enjoy these WorldMark timeshares is during the summer tourism peak, running from June through August. During this time, you can expect a lot of summer festivals, warm beach weather, and lots of sunshine, making it a great destination for couples and for the entire family.

Whenever you choose to travel, The City by the Bay has everything you would want in a cultural urban vacation experience.
