Things to Do Near WorldMark Gleneden

Gleneden Beach

The northwestern stretch of Oregon's Pacific beaches is known as the People's Coast, and it is well-known for its kite-flying, natural areas, and laid-back, seaside atmosphere. Your stay in Gleneden Beach will incorporate all of these gems easily, with many top attractions and daytime activities located within an easy drive of your WorldMark timeshare.

Gleneden Beach is best known for its golf course, spa, and wildlife. Whether you are an avid golfer or not, the Salishan Golf and Spa has a great overlook of the Pacific Ocean, the Spa treatments are worth visiting, and the dining options are some of the best in town. The beaches in Gleneden Bay are well-known for sightings of seals, birds, and other wildlife, and if you charter a deep fishing cruise, you can catch your dinner and bring it home with you.

Gleneden Beach State Park is practically right next to the resort and is a great place to take the family. Its sandy beaches take on the breaking waves, and there are picnicking areas, lots of seals, and places to walk and stroll around, including groves of shore pines.

WorldMark Gleneden is about seven miles from Lincoln City and Siletz Bay, two of the most popular destinations along the coast. Lincoln City has many shops, restaurants, and beaches, and also a fun nightlife. Its seven miles of sandy beaches are a popular family destination every summer and may make a nice alternative to the beaches just below the resort.

Its kite festivals, in particular, draw massive crowds every summer as families and kite enthusiasts alike flock to the town to take advantage of the windy shore for high-flying adventure.

Siletz Bay is famous for its crabbing, clamming, and natural parks. It is just south of Lincoln City and accessible from its beach, and you can go crabbing right on the shore or off the Taft Dock, in the historic Taft Street neighborhood.

The People's Coast takes its name from the beach accessibility all along the 363 miles of the Pacific Scenic Highway, where every inch of Oregon's beaches is open to the public. The total drive time is about twelve hours, but as your timeshare is along its famous stretch of road, you can road trip as far as you want in either direction to see the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

Devils Punchbowl near Gleneden

Along the way, there are many parks and sites you can hike to or explore. Some of the most popular include the Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area, a natural rock formation named for the way it resembles a giant punchbowl, the 1871 Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, which is the last wooden lighthouse in Oregon, and the Otter Rock tidepools.

Whale watching season near Gleneden Beach occurs during the winter months, as humpback whales and other species move in their annual migration. Depoe Bay has a whale-watching station where you and your family can watch these gentle giants from shore, or you can charter a whale-watching cruise on the Pacific. Resident gray whales can be seen during the summer as well.

Best Times to Visit

Summer is the busiest time of year at WorldMark Gleneden, as this is when most families come to enjoy the beautiful days on the beach, the kite festivals, and the many outdoor activities and hikes within the general area. The weather at this time of year is especially nice for being outside, and with the pool and beach on hand, there are many advantages to visiting during the summer months.

However, with a cozy fireplace inside each suite, and unique opportunities such as whale watching during the migrations of December/January, and March through May, there are also advantages to coming during the cooler months.

Activity in the Gleneden Beach area slows down from September through January, making those months the time to travel if you are looking for a deal, and willing to be flexible in your plans. The shoulder season is in the late winter through early spring and steadily builds to the summer peak in July and August.

Between the indoor and outdoor activities, and the many comforts of the resort, there is every reason why you would have a great time whenever you decide to take your vacation here.
